This is really good...if you are not into spicy too much, then don't add as much (or any) crushed red peppers...my hubby and I like spicy so we really enjoyed this one!!

    Down-Home Spicy Cabbage

    1/2 lb. bacon
1 large head green cabbage, cored and chopped
5 scallions (or green onions), chopped
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1 tsp. crushed red peppers
    1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
    1/2 cup water
In a laarge, heavy frying pan or Dutch oven, fry the bacon until crisp. Remove bacon from pan and crumble. Drain all but 1 TBSP of the drippings from the pan. Add all other ingredients, cover and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes. Stir, reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until cabbage is fully cooked.
    Makes 6-8 servings.

NOTE: This is quite spicy...if you want less spicy, use less crushed red peppers.
