~ Cooking IS for the Birds!~
* Make your own suet cakes, melting chunks of suet from the grocery store with bacon fat, lard, or peanut butter and any seeds or nuts of your coice. Freeze the mixture in tuna cans, then un mold and hang outside for the birds.
* Instead of making molded cakes from suet and peanut butter, dip pinecones in the melted mexture, let it harden on waxed paper, and hang the cones from a branch with sturdy string. This is a fun project to do with children.
* Hang stale doughnuts and bagels outside on a tree for the birds. Woodpeckers particularly love them.
* Give the birds a treat by putting out quartered oranges and apples.
