Make a Gift Bag
These are all the materials you will need to make your gift bags; a large envelope, scissors, ruler, pencil, glue stick, pipe cleaners and a hole punch. All these materials are available at the Shrodoba Scrap Store at a very low price. Once your bag is complete use the assorted felt tips & decorations to personalise your bag. Follow the directions and use the photos to guide you.
1) Cut off the top (sealing part) of the envelope, just below the crease, so that the edges are even. * Save this piece of paper
2) Measure approximately 4 cm in on both sides, top and bottom. Just make a dot or two, DO NOT MAKE A BIG LINE OR MARK.
3) Fold both sides over to the 4cm mark & press down firmly. Use your fingernail or pencil to make the folds sharp.
4) Unfold and fold over the other way, make the folds sharp again.
5) Do the same with the top & the bottom.
6) This is the tricky part. Put your hands inside the envelope and push the bottom folds out so they make points. Look at the pictures!
7) The original fold of the envelope can now be pushed in, to form the bag shape.
The bag should now be able to sit flat.
9) Fold the points underneath & glue down to the bottom. You can put your hands in the bag and press down on the bottom to make them stick easier.
10) Fold the top edge of the bag inside to make the top stronger. You already
have a 4cm fold at the top to turn in, once inside make the edge sharp.
11) Using the bit of left-over paper from step 1, trim it down just around the
white paper. Then cut it in ?.
12) Put one ? on the inside top edge of each long side of your bag. Try to get them in the middle.
13) Pinch the top edges together, holding firmly, punch matching holes, using the hole punch. You should only need to punch once. Make sure to get the top in far enough, otherwise your holes won't work.
14) Make the handles out of pipe cleaners, one for each side. Make sure you have the handles on the same side of the bag.
