    Bread Wrapper Hat

    Materials: 14 to 16 unwashed bread wraps ( if possible of the same brand ) according to size of hat ( this includes at least two wrappers for trimming),crochet hook 4.00mm (N.8)two small safetypins, talc powder.
    Measurements: Fits head 48cm to 57cm
    Tension: 9 stitches to 5cm
    Note: to improve the look of finished hat, always take crochet hook through front of loop of work. For stitch read loop. Talc powder may be rubbed on hands to make work easier
    Crown: Cut breadwrap approx. 1cm in width in a spiral from one end to the other.
    Make 4 chain, join with slip stich to form a ring.
    1st Rnd: 8 dc ( 2 dc into every loop, mark beginning of work with safety pin, this helps to keep the beginning of each following row. )
    2nd Rnd: 2 dc into every loop.
    3rd Rnd: * 2 dc into 1st loop, 1 dc into next loop * repeat from * to end of rnd.
    4th Rnd: 1 dc into next loop, * 1 dc into next loop, 2 dc into next loop *, repeat from *
    to * to end of rnd.
    5th Rnd: 1 dc into every loop.
    6th Rnd: * 2 dc into 1st loop, 1 dc into next 6 loops *, repeat from * to * to end of rnd.
    7th Rnd: * 2 dc into 1st loop, 1 dc into next 6 loops *, repeat from * to * to end of rnd.
    Repeat this rnd. 5 times.
    13th Rnd: 1 dc into every loop.
    14th Rnd: As 13th rnd. Continue until work measures 17cm ( or desired length ), turn right side of hat towards you to begin side of hat.
    15th Rnd: * 1dc into next 12 loops, miss one loop *, repeat from * to * to end of rnd.
    Continue without decreasing until the sides of hat measures 8 or 9 cm, or length requ.
    Begin Brim: 1st Rnd: 2 dc into every loop for 1st rnd,( place safety pin as marker )
    2nd Rnd: 1 dc into every loop to end of rnd. Repeat 2nd rnd. until brim is required width, approx. 9 cm, fasten off neatly with 3 slip stiches.
    To finish off: Turn hat inside out and with crochet hook neatly weave joins into back of stitches. Turn hat to right side and press ( if desired ) lightly with dry cloth and warm iron, using towel inside crown; press both sides of brim. Trim as desired.
