This week, I'll be showing how to make the tree of life pendant.
Materials:
24 gauge wire
1 1/4 - 1 1/2 metal ring (preferably without a slit or space)
beads (i used natural stone beads, but multi faceted crystal beads work too)
pliers and wire cuttersInstructions
1. Cut wire into 4 pieces appoximately 9 inches long.
2. Bend each length of wire in half.
3. Begin bulding the branches of your tree by taking one piece of wire and slipping it over the ring until the ring rests in the bend. Twist the wire gently once or twice to keep it in place. Repeat with each piece of wire until all pieces have been secured.
4. Begin adding beads to branch wires (approx. 4-6 or whatever looks good to you) Gently twist the wire at the bottom of the beads together two or three times.
5. Gather wires and gently twist all wires together, making sure the twist is centred. This will form the trunk of your tree. Flip the beads and gathered wires over so that they are positioned in the circular frame.
6. Gently spread out the beaded branches around the bottom of the frame in groups of two. If necessary, gently unwrap some of the wires to make sure you have enough write to create the roots. Gently twist the pairs of wires together to form the roots.
To finish, wrap excess wire around bottom of ring to form roots, trimming if needed. Please note, you don't want the ends to scratch you when you where it, so try to trim near the front bottom or top.
To wear, they suggest using jumprings and attaching a chain. I found that the rings I used were too thick and heavy, so I just slid a leather cord through the top. But if you do have the thinner rings like Sierra, the jump rings will work great.
